St Andrews Re-Roofing Project

As many of you know the flat roof on the church building is nearing the end of its expected life.  In the past few years we have had the roof repaired several times and regularly inspected.  Based on these inspections Parish Council has decided to proceed with re-roofing the entire roof this summer.  In addition we plan to replace the two skylights over the entrance hall and replace the fasteners on the metal church roof.

This is a major project and we have contracted with 21st Century Roofers (located in Langley) to undertake the work in late June or early July depending on the weather.

The roofers will use a layer of SBS elastomeric bitumen (similar to the existing roofing material) which will be thermofused to the existing roofing creating a multilayer roof that should be trouble free for another 20 years.

The cost of the project is expected to be about $75,000.

We currently have enough money in the Building Fund to carry out this work but will be left with only about $20,000 to manage any unexpected building costs going forward.

Parish Council felt that it was important to ensure the integrity of the building before looking at upgrading the flooring and carrying out any other interior work.

We will, however, continue to discuss and plan the interior projects through out 2021 and we expect to have a proposal in place for consideration at the  Vestry meeting, next February.

We believe that with the generous financial support of the congregation to the Building Fund over the coming months, we will be able to move forward with these projects, hopefully by mid 2022.

Sources Food Bank

Please remember the food bank during this time

Items for the Food Bank can always be dropped off during office hours or we invite people to still give money to Sources Langley Food Bank: https://sourcesfoundation.ca/give

If you wish to continue to donate to St. Andrew’s during this time, you can do so utilizing our PAD (Pre-Authorized Debit) option. Once a month, on or after the 12th, we submit to RBC our PAD file to automatically debit from your bank account. If the 12th falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, we process the file the next bank business day. To begin this process, call Carl Markwart at 604-575-3068 to provide your name and banking information. Three bank details are needed (usually taken from the bottom of a void cheque) – your bank’s transit number, bank number and your personal bank account number.

Alternatively, you can drop off your weekly envelopes through the church’s mail slot or mail your donation to St. Andrew’s 20955 Old Yale Rd, Langley City BC V3A 7P8.

There is also the option of e-transfer. You can just send it to the church’s email,  standrewslangley@shaw.ca, and it will be sent to our Treasurer.
