Stewardship Message for Nov 26

At the beginning of November everyone should have received an email or letter regarding St Andrew’s Stewardship campaign for 2020-2021. With the covid pandemic expected to be here for at least several more months, our planning process is full of uncertainty. When will we be able to have in person services?  When can we socially gather with our friends and family?  We certainly hope that with the help of potential vaccines we will be back to normal by next summer.

While the church continues to operate smoothly under this strange and different situation, our first goal is to ensure that we continue to receive the revenues necessary to sustain church operations and repay our debts.   For our revenues match our expenses through the last 4 months of 2020, we are looking for $30,000 in contributions before year end.

Our preliminary operating budget for 2021 is $160,000.  This will cover our expected operating costs and $8,000 further repayment of the Diocesan loan.  We believe this is a realist budget to begin our 2021 plan, taking into consideration the uncertainties of the pandemic and having seen reduced revenues so far this year.   Final budgets will be prepared for Vestry in February, once we have reviewed your pledges and the yearend finances.

As far as major expenses are concerned, we plan to significantly increase our Building Fund to prepare for our two major projects, replacing the roof and flooring.  Total cost of these two projects could be between $125,000 and $150,000. Our Building Fund is at $57,188 today and our plan would be to increase this by at least $25,000 in 2021.

Please take the time to consider how you can help and remember to print and complete the pledge form and either drop it off or mail it to the church by this Sunday, November 29, 2020.

If you wish to complete the form on line and email it to the Envelope Secretary, Carl Markwart at markwartfam@telus.net that would also be fine.

This year in particular, your completion of the pledge form will be of significant help to us, as we develop our plans for 2021.

(Remember, a pledge is a statement of your intentions. We recognize that circumstances can change, and you can adjust your donations (upwards or downwards) if your financial situation changes.)

PWRDF Advent Calendar

From our homes to your home

 Dear PWRDF friend and supporter,

This year Advent and Christmas promise to be unusual, so we at PWRDF challenged ourselves to think a little outside the box. This year's annual Advent resource is reminiscent of an Advent calendar.
We will count down the days until Christmas, opening a window to PWRDF's work each day. An At-Home Advent won't feature daily chocolate (feel free to bring you own!), but will feature a daily home-made video message from a PWRDF staffer or volunteer, accompanied by a scripture passage and prayer. When you subscribe, you will receive an email every day of Advent with a story of how PWRDF has shaped each of us in different ways.
As you celebrate the season – some of you at home and some of you in your churches – we invite you to make PWRDF part of your Advent prayers, too.

Holy goats PWRDF.jpg

A joint venture between St Dunstan’s and St Andrews

Jesus calls us to feed the hungry and care for the poor not only towards our immediate neighbour but to reach out to the ends of the earth in His name. What better opportunity this Christmas to “cross the border” during this Covid pandemic in a whole new way. The PWRDF World of Gifts gives us that opportunity with their fund raising campaign “A Grain of Hope” This program provides Anglicans an opportunity to “buy the Whole Farm” - an agricultural education program that provides food security through training and supplies to FIVE countries - for the cost of $570.00. This initiative is our opportunity to leave our homes and walk with Jesus to the utmost corners of the globe to help our neighbour. Please consider donating whatever amount you can spare towards this incredible Christmas gift to our struggling brothers and sisters.

Please send your cash or cheque to the parish office (St Dunstan’s or St Andrews) as soon as possible as we would like to deliver the funds by Advent 3 (December 13). Thank you and God’s deepest blessings to you

If you wish to continue to donate to St. Andrew’s during this time, you can do so utilizing our PAD (Pre-Authorized Debit) option. Once a month, on or after the 12th, we submit to RBC our PAD file to automatically debit from your bank account. If the 12th falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, we process the file the next bank business day. To begin this process, call Carl Markwart at 604-575-3068 to provide your name and banking information. Three bank details are needed (usually taken from the bottom of a void cheque) – your bank’s transit number, bank number and your personal bank account number.

Alternatively, you can drop off your weekly envelopes through the church’s mail slot or mail your donation to St. Andrew’s 20955 Old Yale Rd, Langley City BC V3A 7P8.

There is also the option of e-transfer. You can just send it to the church’s email,  standrewslangley@shaw.ca, and it will be sent to our Treasurer.

Please keep checking in on each other!
