Newsletter: Praying the Beatitudes

Hello friends! We’re almost to the end of January, one month of 2023 wrapped up!

This week’s newsletter is mostly the same as last week’s, with invitations to upcoming events at the church. Please look through them and plan to participate.

This Sunday, we are reading the Beatitudes in worship as our gospel reading. I want to invite to try something that I found online called the Beatitudes Examen. An examen is a reflective time to go over your day or your week, ask forgiveness and express gratitude. This one is based on the Beatitudes and is, I think, a helpful spiritual practice, especially as we will be reflecting on the ministry of our parish this month. Click the button below and try the Beatitudes Examen.

And this is the information from last week…

Frist is to invite you to the Spiritual Practice Retreat & Sung Evening Prayer on Saturday, January 28th from 1:30pm until 4:30. The name of the retreat is “Come, Listen” and the facilitator will be Katherine Murray who is, among many other things, a parishioner at St Dunstan’s. More information can be found by clicking the button below.

Save the date for the next Family Eucharist Service. We will gather on Saturday, February 11th at 4:30pm for some games, prayer stations, communion, and dinner. All ages are welcome, even if you don’t have children or teenagers in your family!

Andrew & David are leading a Retreat for Youth at the Sorrento Centre on Shuswap Lake! The event is sponsored by the Diocesan Youth Movement and is for participants ages 12-18 years old. The retreat is called “Psalms + Songs” and goes from Friday, February 17th until Monday February 20th. You can learn more and register if you click on the button below.

And finally, the Annual Vestry Meeting will take place after the 10am Sunday service on February 26th. We’ll call the meeting to order at 11:30am. You are invited to come and celebrate our successes and plan for our future! There will be a Zoom option available. Click the button below for more information.

Please do be in touch with me or Lorie to let us know how you and your family are doing. Be assured that you are all in our prayers!

With love,

Andrew
