Covid-19 Pandemic

Please see the Diocesan website for the most recent correspondence from the Archbishop regarding the Covid-19 Pandemic: https://www.vancouver.anglican.ca/

St. Andrew’s Office

The office is closed, and we are suspending the use of the building for Sunday church services, activities, groups, events and rentals. The office staff are working from home so please email standrewslangley@shaw.ca, instead of phoning for church business as the phone will only be checked occasionally.

Please continue to check in with one another over this time, especially with those who you know don't use email. If necessary, call Andrew’s cell at 778-999-9153.

Warden Report - Financial Update

April Update on Finances - Thank you to everyone who continued their support of St Andrew’s through the month of April.  We received $10,781 in donations, during the month, plus full rental from the daycare.  We ended the month with $67, 031 in the bank.  April expenses were reduced as Diocese paid all clergy expenses and cancelled the assessment payment through August.

Please stay safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing you all on our Zoom church services and hopefully getting back together soon.

Stuart Allan, People’s Warden

If you wish to continue to donate to St. Andrew’s during this time, you can do so utilizing our PAD (Pre-Authorized Debit) option. Once a month, on or after the 12th, we submit to RBC our PAD file to automatically debit from your bank account. If the 12th falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, we process the file the next bank business day. To begin this process, call Carl Markwart at 604-575-3068 to provide your name and banking information. Three bank details are needed (usually taken from the bottom of a void cheque) – your bank’s transit number, bank number and your personal bank account number.

Alternatively, you can drop off your weekly envelopes through the church’s mail slot or mail your donation to St. Andrew’s 20955 Old Yale Rd, Langley City BC V3A 7P8.

There is also the option of e-transfer. You can just send it to the church’s email,  standrewslangley@shaw.ca, and it will be sent to our Treasurer.

If you have a story to share, or want to let us know how you are faring in isolation, please email Joanie or phone Andrew.

“Hi All: Our thoughts and prayers are always with Chris, our Son-in-Law, who is a Corrections Officer at the Mission Prison. He has so far tested negative, but every day when he comes home, he has to isolate himself  in their spare bedroom from Kim and our two grandchildren. It is things like this that really bring the pandemic close to home.  Our other daughter, Nikki, who lives in Toronto, works for War Child (an organization set up to help women and children in war-torn countries around the world). Among other things, she is in charge of fund-raising for the organization. They have been absolutely inundated by organizations wanting to give them money to help them fund programs in these countries to help them deal with the Covid-19 outbreak.”

I thought we could do with a laugh during this time of pandemic seriousness.

“This is a true story, only the name has been changed to protect the guilty! My dear friend Millie who is in her 70's has been social isolating with her family in Surrey. They are a very close knit family and share internet and email services.  Because she is in the high risk category for covid-19 her adult children have forbidden her to go shopping and insist that they can provide for her while this pandemic is ongoing. Now Millie is a social butterfly who loves nothing better than to have lunch in a restaurant with her friends, go dancing and aquasizing at the local pool. After 4 weeks of staying home, Millie was feeling very frustrated and isolated and longed to go grocery shopping for herself, if only to get out of the house for a while. Knowing that her kids read all her emails and thus see her credit card statements, Millie devised a plan. Off she went to her bank and withdrew $200 cash and then headed out to Superstore to do some grocery shopping. Back home with her ill gotten gains,  she was delighted to have pulled it all off safely, without being discovered by her family. The next day she leisurely sat down with her cup of coffee to open her email and there it was for all the world to see - an email from Superstore, thanking her for shopping at their store! Busted!!”

Please keep checking in on each other!
