Your Weekly Financial Offering

If you wish to continue to donate to St. Andrew’s during this time, you can do so utilizing our PAD (Pre-Authorized Debit) option. Once a month, on or after the 12th, we submit to RBC our PAD file to automatically debit from your bank account. If the 12th falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, we process the file the next bank business day. To begin this process, call Carl Markwart at 604-575-3068 to provide your name and banking information. Three bank details are needed (usually taken from the bottom of a void cheque) – your bank’s transit number, bank number and your personal bank account number.

Alternatively, you can drop off your weekly envelopes through the church’s mail slot or mail your donation to St. Andrew’s 20955 Old Yale Rd, Langley City BC V3A 7P8.

There is also the option of e-transfer. You can just send it to the church’s email,  standrewslangley@shaw.ca, and it will be sent to our Treasurer.

If you have a story to share, or want to let us know how you are faring in isolation, please email Joanie or phone Andrew.

“Greetings from isolation!!

This sure is a weird time we find ourselves in!! I hope everyone is staying safe and well, and keeping busy. I miss you all so much, and it is a joy for me to see your faces each Sunday on Zoom! Keeping busy during this time of isolation has honestly not been a challenge for me, as I have been navigating the end of an already very busy term - research is extra interesting when the libraries are all closed, and keeping my cats out of the camera during lectures is a challenge I never thought I would have to navigate!

My studies have had me thinking about the concept of house-churches we often romanticize when we think of early Christian gatherings. I think most of us envision cozy homes much like our own, with nice little make-shift basements outfitted with candles, and small groups of Christians sitting in a circle praying. Having just finished studying Paul and early Christian History in depth, I can tell you it was probably not at all like that - many people in the Roman Empire lived in extreme poverty, 7-10 people in each family squashed into tiny little tenement apartments (the size of an average modern bedroom) with no running water, no cooking facilities and no bathrooms (and no Netflix!)!! In comparison, most of us have a pretty nice setup to be quarantined in! Although for the time being we cannot hug one another, share in the Eucharist, or kneel at the altar in our beloved church buildings (which I know we all grieve - at least I do, very much so), we are so blessed to have safe, warm places to live and food to eat, and soap and water to wash our hands with. I hope we can continue to keep one another in our prayers during these difficult times, especially those who do not have the safety and amenities that we do.

I’m so grateful that while we care for each other from a safe distance, we can continue to meet together via technology until we can be in person again. I love and miss you all, and my heart is with you always. May God protect us, care for us, and comfort us all as we navigate these strange times together. Love and peace in Christ.”
