St Andrew’s ‘Café Church’, Spring/Summer 2022

Beginning on Sunday May 15th, the St Andrew’s congregation will move from worshipping in the church Sanctuary to worshipping in the church hall to give us time to prepare the Sanctuary for upcoming renovations. This change will last for up to 12 weeks until the end of July (or until the renovations to the Sanctuary are completed).

For Café Church, we will leave the hall set up as it is for coffee time and will add more chairs if that becomes necessary. We will move a lot of the Sound equipment (including the computers for Zoom) into the hall but will pack the projectors away and use TV monitors to display the service. The regular service bulletin will also be available. We will also move the small credence table (which we will use as the altar), the lectern, and the wooden music stand to the hall. The electric piano is already there. All these items will be stored in the little storage room in the hallway during the week so as to not interfere with regularly scheduled programming.

The current tentative schedule for renovation is as follows:

  • May 14 – removal of the altar platform

  • Late May – tidying and organizing all our stuff so that renovations can proceed

  • Early June – electrical work to prepare for floor polishing

  • Early to mid-June – floor polishing

  • Late June / early July – painting

  • Late June / early July – electrical work related to the lighting and AV set up

  • Early to mid-July – we move back into our newly renovated Sanctuary

Need help moving pews again

Once again it is time to move the furniture in the church in order to be ready for the next phase of the reno work.   Later next week we will have a scissor lift delivered to give Chris (Fox Electric) access to remove and replace the lights in the church and allow Hayden Painting to paint the ceiling and walls.  We need to move some of the pews to the empty side and create pathways, particularly at the front, for the scissor lift to move around.

Based on the last time, it shouldn’t take more than ½ hr, if we can get 6 or more people to help with the move.  If you are able to come down to the church this Saturday morning (July 9) at 9:30 am and give us a hand it would be a great help and make short work of the job.  (If you can get anyone else to join us that would be great too!)
